Teaching principles
Trial and Error
I will be working with you to identify your frequent and fossilised speaking mistakes, helping to guide you to build confidence in expressing yourself as best you can. I am gentle, empathetic and patient with my students.
Discovering not teaching
I believe natural language discovery and usage is the biggest advantage of having a personal tutor, language learning takes time and just learning vocabulary and rules doesn’t help you use the language effectively. Think about how many hours small children spend learning and rewiring their brains to communicate effectively
Why improve your communication?
We often think that language is a means to an end, a way of getting something we want. My perspective is that language can be for pleasure and knowledge growing without any defined end goal, a never ending discovery opportunity. Communicating with other speakers of English will help you expand your perspective.
